Lincoln Park Zoo Regenstein Macaque Forest

Lincoln Park Zoo
Chicago Illinois

The new Macaque Forest connects the natural and the state of the art. The natural environment of the open air meshed exhibit provides ample opportunities for the macaques to demonstrate important natural behaviors such as food washing in the stream, bathing in the hot spring, exploration and foraging on multiple ground level and overhead routes, and shaking tree trunks in displays of dominance. Macaques are drawn towards nose-to-nose visitor interaction with warm rocks in winter and cool air flow in the summer under the inviting eaves of the viewing shelters.
