Assiniboine Park Zoo Journey to Churchill

Assiniboine Park Conservancy
Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada

Within a space of 10 acres, the Journey to Churchill exhibits transport visitors across 600 miles and through four distinct ecosystems between Winnipeg and the Town of Churchill, the “Polar Bear Capital of the World.” This project marks a major collaboration between the Zoo, Manitoba Conservancy, Parks Canada, University of Manitoba, and the Churchill Northern Studies Centre. Through immersive integration of native plants, landscape features, and cultural elements, the environments capture the impacts of climate change on the plants, animals, and people of the north. The Gateway to the Arctic Building and International Polar Bear Conservation Center are both LEED Silver certified.
