TriMet’s TOD Plan Receives Transportation Award

The Women in Transportation’s (WTA) Innovative Transportation Solutions Award honors an individual or company/organization who executes an example-setting innovative transportation project. The Transit Oriented Development (TOD) Plan is TriMet’s TriMet's first, aligning its development goals for housing and other development at its high-capacity station areas.

MIG was the consultant lead—with EcoNorthwest and Fehr & Peers—and provided overall project management, facilitation, GIS analysis, best practices research, and document design and production.

The Plan provides guidance on the actions needed to promote community centered development on property at and adjacent to stations throughout the 26 cities and 3 counties in the Portland Metro region that TriMet serves.

The TOD plan consolidated multiple datasets to identify what TriMet currently owns, and created a new tool that TriMet can use to assess market feasibility and prioritize potential development to meet its equity-centered development goals. It is designed to be flexible and adaptable to easily incorporate new high-capacity transit and TOD development in the future.
